Where you will be staying

Accommodations range from “The Eagles Nest”, for 2019 this is very basic, unique traditional budget Japanese style overnight accommodation, to Economy, Standard, Premium, Superior, and First Class luxury properties.

You can book any number of night’s accommodation in Japan, beginning at just two nights.

As always, when travelling outside the United States, accommodation ratings, amenities, standards and even the concept of what overnight accommodation actually consists of, can vary substantially. Most hotel chains in Japan will be unfamiliar to you. With this in mind we have placed our accommodations for RWC 2019 into 5 categories. Travel Module bookings will be taken by category and specific hotels will be allocated in July 2019 (With the exception of First Class/Luxury which is specified at the time of booking). In allocating hotels to categories we have considered factors such as location relative to airports, train stations, Rugby World Cup 2019 stadiums and other factors pertaining to suitability for a Rugby World Cup 2019 tour, as well as a compilation of geographically recognized hotel grading considerations.

The Eagles Nest

This is a uniquely Japanese traditional option and not for everyone. It is very basic, limited to 2 nights, and we only offer this option around each Eagles pool game. Offensive tattoos and alcohol are not permitted in these traditional Japanese environments.

You sleep in your own single, stacked, “Hole in the wall” compartment or “capsule” along side multiple other individuals. Male and female areas are located on separate floors or in separate buildings.

Sheets and towels are provided and bathrooms and showers are communal and shared (Male and female are separated). If you have luggage it is checked and held separately for the night and individual safety boxes are available for items such as passport, wallet and airline tickets.  Basic breakfast packs are available for purchase. You can check in after 6 pm and you need to vacate by 9 am in the morning.

Economy

These properties represent the most basic, economical overnight hotel options we could find during Rugby World Cup 2019. Rooms are generally very much smaller than hotels we are used to here in the U.S and facilities are limited.

Rooms have private bathrooms and are generally sized for one single bed, or built a little larger to accommodate 2 single beds. You may be allocated either option i.e. a single bed in a single room, or a single bed in a room with two single beds sharing with your traveling companion. If you expressly require your own single occupancy room, the per person price for this option reflects the surcharge.

The properties are clean, practical and always located within comfortable walking distance of a rail station enabling transportation to and from airports, stadiums and bullet train stations.

Standard

These properties are good quality basic accommodations, with private facilities, restaurants, include breakfast and give access to local entertainment, shops and always located within comfortable walking distance of a rail station enabling transportation to and from airports, stadiums and bullet train stations. We believe the “Standard” category will be our most popular overall.

Premium

The Premium category sits between Standard and First Class. It does not appear in all modules but is used when a specific accommodation is required that does not fit into our existing 5 categories. All properties are full service hotels, include breakfast, have English and Japanese speaking staff and facilities. All are in easy walking distance to train or subway stations for stadium and airport transfers.

Superior

These accommodations are probably, generally inline with what we know as “4 Star”. Single, Double or twin bedded rooms with private facilities, include breakfast, room service, have restaurants, English speaking staff, traditional Japanese and Western amenities, and always located within comfortable walking distance of a rail station enabling transportation to and from airports, stadiums and bullet train stations. All have direct Airport Limousine service or lobby to airport-dedicated service.

First Class

These will be top of the line hotels more likely with brand names you will recognize and know all about. All our First Class/Luxury hotels are full-service with English speaking staff, traditional Japanese and western amenities. All are serviced by City Airport limousine transportation or dedicated airport to Hotel transport and have full service hotel facilities.
